Cast vote on principles

advertisement:

We have often heard that you shouldn’t cast your vote based on one issue. While this may sound very logical, we must first consider what that one issue is and how important it is. I believe there is one issue that is very important and that is the issue of abortion.

First of all, when the decision was made in 1973 to legalize abortion, it was based on a lie. I hope we all know who the father of lies really is. If we disregard the fact that this is something that is outside the will of God, there are other ramifications. In the past 35 years, we have killed approximately 40 million babies, which is almost a whole generation. While I am not unsympathetic to the hardship a pregnancy can cause, abortion, while being expedient, is not the right way to handle it. We can do nothing outside the will of God and expect that it will not permeate other areas of our society.

Aside from the moral issues, let’s look at the economic issues. The social security system is predicated on the future generation paying in and supporting the generation currently drawing social security benefits. We have destroyed a large percentage of that generation. They are not paying into social security, they are not buying homes, and they are not buying cars. They are dead because we killed them.

While this is by no means the entire reason for our current economic situation, it is undoubtedly a contributing factor. I certainly would never consider a child a “punishment” as stated by Sen. Obama. Since we have started down this slippery slope, where do we stop?

I hope each of you will consider all the issues and vote according to the principles of the Bible in November.
