Kyle began his career in federal service in 1986 when he joined the National Photographic Intelligence Center (NPIC) as an imagery analyst. He analyzed military issues relating to the former Soviet Union, soon to become a leading expert in the Intelligence Community on Russian military exports. Following the tragic events of 9/11, he helped form and then led NIMA’s first counter-terrorism task force. NIMA was renamed the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and Kyle’s career progressed as he was selected to division level management, first as the deputy chief of the China Division, then as the chief of the Korea Division. Most recently, in November Kyle was selected to be a senior NGA representative to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Throughout his career, Kyle was engaged in a variety of corporate efforts that were indicative of his dedication to his career and to public service. He was an avid participant in activities related to hiring new analysts, and as such, made a positive impression early in the career of many analysts. Throughout his career, he was the recipient of numerous exceptional performance awards and a DCI Meritorious Unit Citation. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues at NGA.
